According to the operating principle of the edge banding machine, it can be divided into three types: manual edge banding device, manual edge banding machine and automatic edge banding machine.
①Manual edge banding device During the edge banding process, the operator aligns the pre-glued edge band with the work piece, and leaning against a heater to melt the glue and solidify to complete the edge banding work. The manual edge banding device is easy to operate, simple in structure, and only requires a heater. The disadvantage is that the length of the edge of the workpiece is limited by the length of the heater and the quality of the seal is not stable. It is only suitable for small factories and individual producers. Therefore, this device is being replaced by manual edge banding machines and automatic edge banding machines.
②In the manual edge banding process, the operator pushes the workpiece forward against the pressing roller, and the edge band or band is sealed to the workpiece along the feeding direction between the workpiece and the pressing roller. the edge of. This kind of edge banding machine generally uses pre-glued edge banding or edge banding. In the sealing process, only the edge banding is heated to melt the glue and seal the edge of the workpiece. The manual edge banding machine is generally composed of edge band heater, pressing roller, edge band cutting device, working table, etc. (Figure 1). Under normal circumstances, the edge-sealed workpiece needs to be trimmed on the other edge trimming machine to trim the excess part of the edge-banding strip sealed on the workpiece in width and length. Some manual edge banding machines are additionally equipped with a power head that trims the edges, which makes the operation more convenient and the efficiency is high. Because this type of equipment has a simple structure and is especially suitable for sealing the edges of smaller workpieces, it is widely used in small panel furniture factories.
Figure 1③Automatic edge banding machine is composed of feeding mechanism, edge banding conveying mechanism, gluing mechanism, pressing roller, milling device, sanding mechanism and other parts (Figure 2). The edge banding process of this kind of edge banding machine is fully mechanized and automated. The operator only needs to adjust the machine and send the workpiece onto the conveyor belt. The edge banding or edge banding belt automatically tracks the movement of the workpiece, and the gluing mechanism is automatic Apply an appropriate amount of glue on the edge of the workpiece, the pressing roller presses the edge banding strip or the edge banding tape to the edge of the workpiece, and then the end and edge milling device automatically tracks the workpiece to place the edge band in the width and length directions The excess part is milled away. There is an automatic swinging sanding mechanism at the discharge end of the edge banding machine, which can sand the edge of the wooden edge banding strip, so that the sealed edge is more smooth and beautiful. This kind of automatic edge banding machine can feed continuously, has high working efficiency, and the feed speed can reach 9-45 m/min. Due to the high production efficiency and complex structure of this kind of edge banding machine, it is usually used in large-scale wood-based panel surface processing and panel furniture manufacturing enterprises.
According to the shape of the edge surface of the edge banding workpiece, the edge banding machine can be divided into two types: straight edge banding machine and special-shaped edge banding machine.

②Hetero-shaped edge banding machine can seal and paste various forms of special-shaped edges. As long as the curvature radius of the curve forming the special-shaped surface is suitable, it will not cause the edge banding to break or affect the application of glue. The special-shaped edge banding machine is usually equipped with an automatic edge banding machine. Its structure is basically the same as that of the straight edge banding machine. The difference is that after the workpiece enters the edge banding machine, there is a set of special-shaped milling tool devices before the edge banding track the workpiece. The edge is milled into the required profiled edge. In order not to split the edge of the workpiece during milling, the milling device generally consists of two milling cutter heads with opposite cutting directions. The cutter head has the function of automatically approaching and disengaging during milling. The sanding device at the discharge end should correspondingly adopt the imitated sanding block with the same shape as the edge.
In order to improve the efficiency of the edge banding machine, the automatic edge banding machine can also be made into a double-sided edge banding machine, that is, to seal two parallel edges at the same time, and the working width can be adjusted as required. Due to the high price of this kind of edge banding machine, it is only suitable for large-scale wood-based panel surface processing and panel furniture manufacturing enterprises.
In the 1980s, with the development of edge banding technology and the emergence of new edge banding materials, on the basis of edge banding, post-molding seals were developed that combined veneers at the same time. This process technology can seal more complex-shaped edges.
